FAQ

Can I bring my own food or drinks?

No.  For legal reasons, outside food and drinks are prohibited.

Can I purchase food and drinks during the tour?

Yes!  We have a variety of beer, wine & tropical ciders as well as tasty mocktails and other fun beverages and snacks for the kids.

Where does the tour start and end?

Public tours embark and disembark at South Waterfront Park, 2001 S River Drive, Portland, OR 97201 near Riverplace Marina.

Please do not attempt to board the vessel early.  Our staff will meet you at the park benches above the dock.  Once everyone has been checked-in, our crew will escort the entire tour group to the boat.

Are gratuities included in the price?

No, but tips are always greatly appreciated! You’ll find a Venmo QR code and a cash jar near the bar. While gratuities are not included, our team relies on tips to support their livelihood. All tips are shared equally among the crew, as it takes the collective effort of the entire team to provide our guests with an exceptional experience.

How early should I arrive before my tour?

Please note the “Check-in” time on your confirmation email (typically 30 minutes prior to the tour) and allow extra time for traffic and parking. Your confirmation email contains additional instructions about check-in/ arrival and departure.

To help speed up the check-in process, please take time to sign the online waiver in advance for yourself and any minor children.

Portland Visitors, please note: Expect traffic delays in and around downtown Portland, especially at rush hour!

Is there parking near the dock?

There are a couple public parking garages within a short walking distance from the embarkation dock as well as paid on-street parking.  Download Portland parking apps in advance for added convenience.

Is there a restroom on board?

We have a small toilet on board, but please use the restroom before boarding (especially for kids!) and follow the “no solids” rule. The toilet is small, like a port-a-potty, but it requires a lot of upkeep, so we appreciate your help in keeping it clean and functional for everyone.

What should I bring?

Bring a valid driver’s license if you plan to consume alcohol.  We accept debit or credit cards for food and drink purchases.  For tips (only) we also accept cash or Venmo.  Keep in mind, it can feel colder (or be sunnier) out on the water than on land.   Sunglasses or a brimmed hat may come in handy.  On chillier days and nights, consider bringing a “beanie” & a “puffy” (for all you non-Pacific Northwest natives, that’s a cozy hat & jacket!) or you may even want a personal blanket on colder, windy days.

Do I need to wear or bring a life jacket?

The vessel is fully outfitted with commercially certified Type 1 PFD’s (life vest/jackets) in case of emergency.  You are welcome to bring your own US Coast Guard approved life vest or require your child to wear one if it makes you or them more comfortable.

What about bad weather?

We sail rain or shine!  Our palapa top is waterproof & covers most of the boat.  On rainy days, bring a raincoat!  (No umbrellas please.)  If for any reason the captain determines that a tour could be unsafe due to weather, etc. (i.e. lightning) we will make every effort to inform you at least one hour prior to your scheduled departure.  If we cancel unexpectedly, you will receive a full refund.

What if I’m running late?

Out of respect for timely passengers, we start all tours on time.  If you are late you will miss the tour, forfeit your ticket and its cost.

Are children allowed?

Yes!  Check out our Family Fun Tours for great prices on children’s tickets!   These tours are set up to be more affordable and extra fun for the kiddos!   We also sell a limited number of reduced rate children’s tickets for our other tours which are geared to the general public.  Note: When the reduced-price ticket limit has been reached on an all-ages tour, children’s tickets may still be available at the adult rate.

Do I have to buy a ticket for a baby if I hold them on my body or lap?

Yes.  The Coast Guard counts every human or “soul” as part of the passenger count regardless of age and our capacity is limited.  Therefore, you will need to purchase a ticket, provide the full name of your child or infant at check-in and sign a separate liability waiver on their behalf. On select tours children and infant prices are reduced.  For legal reasons, lap infants are not permitted on our 21+ tours.

How are tours priced, are discounts offered?

Tour prices vary depending on day, time, tour type and season.  We offer a discount to senior citizens (62+), veterans and active military (ID required), and, Children’s seats are reduced on select tours.

Please visit our private charters page for large group pricing for your special event.

How do I get my tickets after I purchase them?

A confirmation email will be emailed to you along with arrival instructions.  This is your ticket.  Please be prepared to show your confirmation along with a matching ID at check-in, 30 minutes before your tour.

Can tickets be purchased at the door?

Tickets must be purchased online to secure a spot. On rare occasions we may sell tickets at the door after all pre-paid guests are checked in, but this is not guaranteed. Tours often sell out two weeks in advance so it’s best to book early!
